Guitars across musical cultures
Summer Session I at UNC, which runs from May 13th to June 17th, will include MUSC 146: The Guitar Across Musical Cultures. No previous musical experience is required, and the class will satisfy both the Visual and Performing Arts (VP) and Beyond the North Atlantic (BN) requirements for students. Taking place from 1:15 – 2:45 every day of the week, the class discuss how the guitar can be viewed as a unifying thread across numerous cultures, and how instruments shape and are shaped by cultural settings. The course will be taught by graduate student David Vanderhamm and is open to all students.
