The UNC Global Rhythm Ensemble will officially be introduced to students beginning in the Fall semester.  Led by Juan Alamo, who also directs the UNC Percussion Ensemble, the UNC Global Rhythm Ensemble will focus on various drumming traditions and cultures worldwide.  It will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 – 4:15 PM and can be found in the UNC registrar as MUSC 212, Section 7.

WXYC Looking for Summer DJs

UNC student radio station, WXYC, is hosting an interest meeting for prospective summer DJs on Tuesday, May 20th at 6 PM in the Union.  Preceding the meeting, which takes place in Union room 3209, the station will be holding an open house from 4 – 6 PM, where anyone may enter the station, explore the catalogue, and ask questions.  Students interested in a variety of musical genres are encouraged to apply.  At the meeting, students will receive an application to fill out, in addition to signing up for a short interview time.

Warner Music Group, a major music recording company, is currently seeking a Chapel Hill-based UNC College Marketing Representative.  The position is paid, and involves creating promotional events for artists, maintaining localized social media pages, networking and creating musical contacts on campus, and impacting the sales of certain artists.  The position requires at least 18 hours of work per week for both the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters.  Music-minded undergraduates are encouraged to apply.

The University Baptist Church of Chapel Hill is currently seeking a tenor vocalist to add to their adult chancel choir for the 2014 – 2015 academic year.  Rehearsals will occur from 7 – 8:30 PM on Wednesdays, and performances take place on Sundays during worship at 11 AM.  A $1000 scholarship is being offered to the prospective singers, in addition to free parking at the church for the duration of the academic year.

SECU Family House Seeking Performers

The SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals is currently seeking performers for the local residents.  After a long day at the hospital, people are able to “sit down, relax and forget about all their cares while listening to somebody play,” describes SECU House Event Coordinator, George Spencer.  All types of music are welcomed, and from jazz to bluegrass and soloists to groups, the SECU Family House seeks to provide their residents with uplifting and relaxing musical accompaniment for as many evenings as possible.  Performances begin at 7 PM every week from Monday through Thursday, and include a free meal in addition to compensation.
