Women’s Glee Club Performing in Hill Hall

The Community Chorus Project, which includes guest instruction by UNC Department of Music members Dan Huff and Susan Klebanow, will be hosting a free concert in Hill Hall on Saturday, May 3rd at 4 PM, as part of the culmination of the youth Saturday Glee Club which practices in Kenan Rehearsal Hall every Saturday from 2 – 4 PM.  The youth chorus’ repertoire includes both pop and world music pieces, and features nearly 40 singers from grades 6 to 9.  Attendance is free and open to the public.

Chapel Hill Philharmonia Hosting Free Concert in Hill Hall

The Chapel Hill Philharmonia, a completely volunteer-based community symphony orchestra, will be hosting a free concert in Hill Hall on Sunday May 4th.  Led by UNC professor Donald L. Oehler, works will include Weber and Tchaikovsky, and 17-year-old soloist Carolyn Chang, winner of the Young Artist Competition, will be taking the spotlight for much of the performance.  The concert is free and open to the public, and begins at 7:30.  A reception will follow.

On Wednesday April 23rd, UNC professor Clara Yang will be speaking in Hill Hall 107 on traveling the world as a female musician.  The talk is part of the “Women in Music” speaker series headed by the Iota Lambda chapter of UNC-based student organization Tau Beta Sigma.  The talk is free and open to the public and will begin at 6:30 PM.

Changing children’s lives through orchestral music training

On Tuesday, April 8th, the UNC Gamelan Nyai Saraswati and Charanga Carolina will be holding their annual World Music Concert in Hill Hall 107 at 7:30 PM.  This year, local nonprofit organization Kidz Notes will be joining the performance, playing music alongside UNC music majors.  The event is completely free and open to the public, and will showcase an amazing spectrum of ages, talent, and backgrounds.  Evening parking is free on UNC campus, and all are welcome to attend.
