Providing musical opportunities for underprivileged children

Musical Empowerment, an organization within the UNC Department of Music offering free weekly music lessons to underprivileged children in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area, is hosting a benefit concert tonight for the group.  Joe Kwan from national act The Avett Brothers is headlining the show, with additional performances from Mipso, the UNC Achordants, and the UNC Clef Hangers.  Tickets have sold out, but a standby line is expected to form outside of University United Methodist Church on Franklin Street.
